A More Perfect Complexion.. Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation

We loved petal-filled original so we fell head over heels for Marc Jacobs New Daisy scent when it arrived. Housed in the quirkiest, sweetest bottle we've seen, this sparkling rose, plum and violet spritz is everything we want for spring- bright, fresh and up lifting.

This isn't such a great week for Avon & Me. First my hopes for the Lotus Shield were dashed, and now I'm disappointed by another product that sounded so good on paper and looked great in the tube.

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Eye Duo is a GREAT idea -- it combines a shimmery liquid shadow on one end with a coordinating liquid liner on the other. I tried it in White with Jet Black eyeliner.

But, for starters, the "white" liquid shadow isn't white; it's a pinkish champagne with white shimmer -- which is definitely better than straight-up white shadow, but then why not just call it Champagne?

The shadow applies easily with a sponge doefoot applicator and dries quickly; however, it's not very pigmented and it's REALLY pale--if you have a darker skin tone you might want to go with one of the other three shades. I do like the iridescent quality of it, though, and I may reach for it in the future as a highlighter.

The other end, the black liquid liner, was what really disappointed me. The formula is thin and a little watery, so once the first stroke starts to drag out, the liner loses its intensity and opacity. You might need to go in for another dip to finish the job. Additionally, the brush is a little too soft. With liquid liners, a good brush is CRITICAL. If you're new to the medium, this isn't a great one to start with; the soft brush makes it too easy to make the line too thick or lose control of it. I'm a pretty experienced user of liquid liners and I was able to get a nice even line with this, but it's just not the best of the bunch. It also took upwards of 20 seconds to dry fully.

Overall, it was okay, but I'd never buy it and can't really recommend it. Another one I wanted to love but just couldn't. Bummer!

Tone Up With Arcona Triad Pads

Let's start out with a little math:

Toner already in a pad > Toner in a bottle that you have to apply to a pad.

ARCONA Triad Pads are soaked with hydrating, toning, cleansing, and excellent-smelling Cranberry Toner. Just pull one out of the jar to remove excess makeup, tone and hydrate after cleansing, or refresh your face after a workout or a good night's sleep.

And why use a toner, you ask? Well, these Triad Pads are packed with a host of skin-loving ingredients: antimicrobial cranberry (containing vitamins, phyto-nutrients and essential fatty acids), Vitamin E tocopherols and tocotrienols, Omegas 3, 6 and 9, and rice milk. Plus, well, they just feel really, really good.

Now, I'm finding this to be the case with every Arcona product I try...I'm in love with the scent. These toner pads smell like candy! More specifically, they have the sweet-tart smell of old fashioned pastilles in a little Victorian tin. Sweet, refreshing, and luxurious.

(One note, though: if you test them out and hate the smell, stop right there. Don't buy them. Because you'll notice the scent on your face for a while after applying. It sticks around a while.)

At £30 for 45 pads, they're not exactly cheap, but you can get a ton of extra mileage out of them by cutting them in half. Seriously, they're so soaked with toner that there was still plenty left over when I finished my face and neck. I would have been fine with just half a pad!
